Someone must have told them that Salvador Bono & Cherilyn Sarkisian just wasn’t a marketable name, even back in the early 60’s.
So Phil Spector (yeah, THAT guy), created Sonny & Cher, and released their first album, “Look at Us,” that included a song that hit #1 on this day in 1965, “I Got You Babe.”
Sonny died in a skiing accident in 1998 after being Representative from California, and Cher went on to show everyone her butt on the USS Missouri and usher in autotune.
