2015-12-13 21.56.26Hi. My name is Marv Dorner, and I am BeLoud Entertainment.

I started DJ’ing “officially” at Sh-Booms in Watertown, SD in June of 1991 at the tender age of 22. My DJ/MC experience really took a giant leap forward when I moved to Fargo, ND in September of ’91 and started at The Rock (then it was the Rockin’ 50’s). The Rock became the center of my musical knowledge for over five years, and I continued to go back even after I moved to Grand Forks (I worked at the El Roco) right up until the final night of the club in the early 00′s, when dozens of ex-employees, former patrons, and I closed the place down with one heck of a party.

In 1997 I moved to Mandan, ND and promptly hooked up with my new home base to showcase my talents and feed my need for loud music, Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse. Until July 2010, I was still DJ’ing at Bucks; keeping up with the current music and “educating” the youth of Bismarck/Mandan on some of the music from before many of them were born. I consider it a public service. (I still wander back into Bucks – doing their Foam Parties in 2010, 2011 & 2012 AND will be there on the End of the World, 12/21/2012)

Take a little journey back through my years as a DJ Remember what was playing on MTV back when I started DJ’ing in 1991 (remember when MTV played music videos?) :

  • Everything I Do (I Do For You) – Bryan Adams
  • Gonna Make You Sweat – C&C Music Factory
  • Love of a Lifetime – Firehouse (my wedding song, by the way!)
  • Ice Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice
  • Baby Got Back – Sir Mix-A-Lot
  • EMF, Def Leppard, Boyz II Men, and more!

How many of those still get played at weddings, reunions, and other dances? ALL OF THEM! And I was there when they broke onto the scene.

And I was there in the mid-to-late 90′s when these songs got released on CD:

  • Whoomp! (There it is) – Tag Team
  • Achy Breaky Heart – Billy Ray Cyrus (yes, Miley’s dad…)
  • C’mon Ride It – Quad City DJ’s
  • Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It – Will Smith
  • Janet Jackson, Digital Underground, Proclaimers, and more!

And I was STILL there in the mid-to-late 2000′s when even more new artists were being downloaded and put on our Ipods like :

  • O.M.G. – Usher
  • Low – Flo-Rida
  • Poker Face – Lady Gaga
  • California Gurls – Katy Perry
  • Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO
  • Pussycat Dolls, Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, and more!
AND I’M STILL HERE!  Playing the hottest sounds of the today streaming to your smartphones:
  • Uptown Funk – Bruno Mars
  • Fireball! – Pitbull
  • Watch Me – Silentó
  • Nicki Minaj, Luke Bryan, David Guetta, Taylor Swift, and more!

Putting it as simply as I can, I love to DJ. I was messing with LP’s, 45′s and cassette tapes as long as I can remember. Sure, I’ve inhaled more than my share of second-hand smoke (I blame that for my significant hair loss), and there’s probably some permanent hearing damage (huh, probably?), but that’s a small price to pay for the joy I get in entertaining people by playing music they want to hear.

So if you have a special event coming up, and you want a DJ that has seen it all, heard it all, and truely loves doing this not as a hobby, but as a passion, contact BeLoud Entertainment and tell me what you want… I’ll make it happen.
